I have a quick question, I am new to M1A's so it may seem a little stupid.

I bought a new Scout with a synthetic stock. I would prefer a wood stock and saw that Brownells has Springfiled walnut stocks for $240. Is this an easy change to make? Also, could I use the black hand guard that comes with the stock when making the switch to the walnut stock? I am aware that I could probably find a used stock for less than $240, but it says it comes with all the hardware and I just want to make sure the switch can be made. I don't know how comfortable I'd be with any modifications I'd have to make to make it fit properly. Thanks for any help.

Edit- here's the link to the stock if it helps.

It should drop right in.. If it is a tight fit. that is a good thing.

You will want to make sure the op rod doesnt contact the channel. remove the spring and see how freely it moves.
