School me on the differences with the price range. Seems to me a Springfield M1A can be had for about $1100, Fulton $1700, LRB $2200. Maybe if you have the time with justifications for each. I want just a standard m14 type, Vietnam issue infantry rifle (Semi). I am thinking of getting the Birch stocks from Fred's and a USGI trigger group and sending it to Fulton's Armory and have a complete rifle put together for $1500. I drool over the LRB but pricey. Thanks. |

Recent SAIs have no USGI parts. LRBs are forged receiver and all USGI parts. Fulton builds a good one with mostly USGI Parts. Truth be told, a recent SAI M1A can be made to run accurately and reliably with a little troubleshooting -- and you can add USGI parts over time. My SAI Loaded had zero USGI parts and ran like a champ, and I added USGI parts bit by bit. I'd keep your eye open for a used SAI with a low serial number and a lot of USGI parts. You can pick them up for $1100-1200. |

Trust your drool I just got my LRB a couple days before I left town. (I'm still gone) and can't wait to take it to the range. The rifle is perfect, Lou is great to work with and they will build you EXACTLY what you want, and I had mine built and in my hands in less than three weeks. IMO the extra $ is worth the peace of mind KNOWING you've got a quality rifle. I wasn't sure which way to go, I asked on here, and the replies were more than 2 to 1 to go LRB. Even without shooting it yet I can tell you I have no doubt I made the right choice. I'm so confident and happy about the first one, I'mgoing to send them a SA M-21 walnut stock and have them build me a 22". The first is 18.5" "Scout" I ordered with a Smith brake. I'm telling you it's SWEET. When I get back I'll shoot some pics and TRY to figure out how to post them. |
