Has anyone had any problems with their XD?
I've heard of an unknown part jamming when trying to dissemble the pistol to clean.
I'm looking to buy one to carry here in a couple months
But I wanted to get more input on the unknown problem... If any.

I bought an xd9 tactical a little over a year ago. I've shot a few hundred rounds through it, not sure exactly how much. I've shot both brass and steel cased. Can't remember having one jam or malfunction with it. It's been nothing but reliable.

I have 2 XDs and 2 XDms.  3 of them have hundreds of rounds through them, with no problems.  All have been broken down and cleaned numerous times, with no problems.  All in all great guns.  One of them is pretty new, so I haven't used it as much, but so far problem free.

The only gun i can shoot a smiley face with.

I've had great luck with my XD .45.  It's a lot of fun to shoot, the ergonomics are great, and the loaded chamber indicator is cool.

XD .40 compact here. Probably close to a thousand rounds and no malfunctions. Easy to field strip and clean. I love love love it.

Never had any issues with XD9 SC or Service models.  Different from Glock in a nice way, but not exactly giving up Glocks either.

XD subcompact .40, and XDM .40 4.5" here, and they are my favorite carry guns.  Never a single issue related to the question asked.  As a matter of fact never a single issue of any kind, except one instance of fte some of that blazer junk that says "not for use by le" on the box.   I was shooting the xd with a buddy who had bought some dirt cheap for plinking.  Never used it again, never will.  All other ammo tried cycled perfectly.  I cant imagine you would be dissapointed if you buy.

I've owned an XD9 for about 5 years now and no issues. There's nothing wrong with the XD line of pistols.

I've had an xd9 service bi-tone for 6.5 years now.  I have shot thousands of rounds through it.  I have had one malfunction.  It was a reloaded cartridge that stove piped.  I inspected the cartridge after firing and there was a considerable amount of unburnt powder in the case.  So that was not the fault of the xd.

Extremely reliable, and accurate shooting.

XD-45 compact here. I had a handful of premature slide lockbacks early on (<300 rounds). I'm not sure if I was thumbing the slide relase or something, but I ended up changing all my magazine springs to wolf +5% springs just in case and haven't had a single problem since.

The only thing I've heard as far as weak point is the striker retaining pin, but Powder River Precision sells upgraded ones though that shouldnt break. I ordered some, but I'm not sure if I'm going to replace mine yet or not. I'm right at 982 rounds at the moment.

The jam thing during reassembly is when people put the recoil spring in crooked or something. I'm not entirely sure how people manage to do that though...

XDM 45 4.5 +500 rounds with Trl 3 and cc when ever I can and not 1 issue. Used 230gr pmc and also 230gr cci blazer alumimnum.

I have over 5k through my XD9 service, not a single jam.

I have a XD9 with about 1500 rounds or so down the pipe. Its a solid gun but top heavy IMO, never any problems from it! It goes bang everytime.

Here is a link to a 3 page thread I started on the same topic last week.

I have an 9mm sub compact. I have around 1400 rounds through it of mixed brass/steel FMJ and HP ammunition. The only malfunction I EVER had was caused by me failing to seat the mag the first time I ever took it to the range, which resulted in a mis-feed after the first round fired and the mag dropped partway out of the grip. Like I said, user error, not the xd's fault in any way.

It has since always fired, always fed any ammo, and always locked open on the last round.

I plan to get a xd tactical, and maybe an xds when they come out.

I carry in a MTAC holster.

I have an XD .45 Tactical with manual safety, I've had it for 5.5 years and have put 5K rounds thru it (almost all home cast RNFP) trouble free and shoots great

XDm 40, XDm 9mm, and XDsc 9mm. No issues except had a few failures to lock back on empty with the Ms. That stopped when Springfield sent me new followers and springs. As far as the issue with putting them back together... Do it the right way and that shit won't happen. It's not a complicated pistol by any means.
I did put a tungsten guide rod in the 9mm and a set of Heinie Straight Eight night sights. I also loved how the Sc fits into my SuperTuck for the XDm . Eventually I'd like to take a full size 9mm XDm and have the grip cut down to SC size or even take the regular XD and have it done since no one makes a short grip with a long barrel anymore!

Daniel
EDIT: I've put about 5k through the XDm 9mm, about 2k in the 40, and about 2-3k through the SC.

I've had and carried my XD 9 sub-compact for four years. Never had a single malfunction.

My only complaints are it's a bit top heavy and roughly the
size of a Glock 19 without the extra 1" of barrel or the extra two
rounds in the mag. The trigger is better than stock Glock, IMO, though.

I used a couple of XD40s in competition a few years back.  Never any problems with them other than regular rust on the slide that went away with some oil.

I just picked up a XDM 5.25 9mm for competition.   I know a few folks using these and they are pretty impressed with them.

I have an HS2000 version with close to 10,000 rounds through it.  She isn't pretty, but I have never had an issue with the pistol.  And I have shot some really crappy ammo through it too.

I had an XDM 9 for a little bit...Liked the gun alot at first, but everytime I shot it (using factory ammo or reloads) I always had some kind of problem (failure to feed, extract, one time a live round got stuck during extraction).

Ended up trading it in on a Sigg 226 MK 25.

I know I could have sent it in to SA for warranty work, but honestly, these days if something doesnt work right out of the box  I make it go away.

Was this a round stuck in the chamber that you were trying to manually extract?

If so,it sounds like maybe the barrel had an out of spec chamber.

Shit happens when making mechanical things.

SA would have made it right for you I'm sure.

Wife shot her brand new XDSC over 2000 rounds without oil or cleaning she said it never jammed. when she finally asked me to help her clean it you could not touch it without getting your hands filthy. The reason she wanted it cleaned was because it turned her hands black when she went to shoot with her girlfriends. I bought one a short time latter and hung up my 1911. The XDSC has been my carry weapon now for the last four years with zero issues,

I have the 5.25 in 9mm awesome gun. About 1000 rounds through it all cheap ammo,  no malfunctions to report. I was a Glock guy before this purchase. I am planning on getting one in .45 soon

I have a XDm 9mm with nearly 8000 rounds through it.  No problems with it.  Also have a XD 9mm subcompact with only about 400 rounds through it.  Also no issues.  I like my XD's.

They just need a trigger kit to change the reset and then they are good to go.

I am more of a Glock guy, but my XDm shoots like a champ. I did replace the stock trigger with a PRP because I didn't care for the long reset and overtravel. I don't really care for the grip safety either. Accuracy wise, the XDm will outshoot my SA 9mm 1911 and my Glocks. In side by side comparisons, it splits as fast as my G34/35, "high bore axis" and all.

Does the XDm have a shorter trigger reset than the XD?  I had a XD which I really liked except for the long trigger reset.

The XDm is better than the XD but still has a lot of overtravel. A trigger kit can help. This is the PRP trigger from start to stop. The pull weight is about 3.5#.
