I'm sure you guys see questions on the differences all the time. I've done that research and I can't identify what I'm looking at. Hopefully someone here can.
I may buy this gun, but it seems like it is either a really cool find or a quick trip to meet bubba.... and my luck isn't that great. I'll try to get a picture if I get near it again, but hopefully a good description will do. It reads: U.S. RIFLE 7.62MM M14 Springfield Armory XXXXXX (serial number) And that's it. No trademark logo or anything. It is a "mid cut" receiver for where the operating rod pops out. It does not have the selector tab The bayo lug is nicely milled off (as opposed to hacked off) So.... Run like hell, or snatch it up? |
| That one on gunbroker might be a real Hahn reweld. It looks to have been given a new serial number which is consistent with what I've read on the Hahn's. the center dismount thing concerns me though. I've never seen a Hahn with any documentation to compare it with though. |

Thanks for the information!
However you look at it, it doesn't look like it's legal. Is there a place I can look up the serial number to determine anything? I'll stay away from it since it seems certain features that it has are illegal. But I'm still curious and won't likely see another one. |

Evil features with no approved NFA form = bad juju As described, the receiver was manufactured by the government Springfield Armory in the early 1960s. The selector lug has been removed but the BATFE still considers it a machine gun. |
