| Are Springfield Armory recievers available for purchase seperate from rifles or do they just sell completed rifles? |
| Try Champion's Choice for stripped M1A receivers: www.champchoice.com/shop.php?action=clearsrch&class=SPRING |

I was looking at champions and they have two seperate types of recievers for sale one for 500$ and another for 700$. THe first one is SPRINGFIELD M1A RECEIVER W/O GUIDE & STOP for 500$ and the other is SPRINGFIELD M1A LUGGED RECEIVER W/O CLIP GUIDE for 700$. Is it really worth the extra two hundred for lugged reciever. I thought both kinds where lugged just that the other more expensive kind had a double lug on it, on at the front and rear of reciever for more stability and accuracy. ALso what is the STOP they are refering to in the product advertisement. is it a bolt hold open stop or ??????? ALso has anyone dealt with champions had good expierences, it seems their mags are quite high. I posted another topic on mags but no one has replied to that one. thanks |

If you plan on scoping the M1A, avoid SA receivers! The left hand groove and hole are often out of place and of the wrong dimensions, and Smith, Sadlak, Arm's mounts have difficulty because of this, and the mount has to be custom fit to that rifle. The problems started around 160,000 and are thru the current receivers I have seen to at least 184XXX. LRB sells barrelled receivers, as well as plain receivers. http://www.lrbarms.com/pages/2/index.htm They are making a forged receiver, and with the barreled ones, you have the bolt already headspaced so you dont have to worry about it, along with some of the other parts, like rear sight assembly. |

LRB Arms M14SA receivers are excellent. The downside is they are on back order. Soooo, how fast do you Regarding the "STOP", Champions Choice is referring to the bolt lock aka bolt hold open stop. Regarding the lug, I'd pass on it. Go with a standard geometry (semi-automatic only) receiver. The $700 receiver is for a rear lugged receiver. There are also double (front and rear) lugged receivers but that's unlikely a shelf item. |

Damn, LRB recievers are real damn expensive. 900 retail and ?700dealer priced. Shit is this the average price for there recievers or can they be had from somone at a lower price. I am looking to get the recievers before the dems take over the house and put a new AWB bill in place, for some this could be as soonas this fall or as late as a couple of years. Realistically i think it is going to happen sooner rather than latter. |

LRB is doing something with their tooling and won't have anything on to ship for the next 3-6 months. A lugged receiver must be bedded. A double lugged rifle can be a tempermental creature and you'll need to have a pro set it up correctly. FWIW, the SA Inc lifetime guarantee applies only to their complete rifles. |

30Cal, I beg to differ with you on the Springfield warranty issue. I have been in contact with a Springfield rep over the last 2 days asking questions on this very issue with a Springfield receiver that I purchased. His reply was that Springfield warranties all of their rifles AND parts. The only way they will not warranty anything is if they determine that you abused or altered the rifle/parts, i.e. customizing or "hotloads". And this includes parts that were not purchased directly through SA, but from outside vendors. FWIW, MD |
