OK I think we all know why I am asking this...

I have a deal around the corner for one of these tacticals... will that scope stay alive on top the 50?

Get either a Night Force or a Leupold, they are the only ones recomended for .50BMG's. Will something else work? I would say it would for a little while, but what will it do whaen you need it?

I started out with a Super Sniper 20X on my AR-50 and put about 1200 rounds through it with no problems. I replaced the SS with a Springfield Gov't Gen 3 and have been very happy. I tend not to listen to the experts and find out for myself. Some folks think a scope has to cost $$$ to be worthy of a 50. Buy a scope with features you like with a good warrenty and shoot your heart out. If it breaks send it back.

Good thing about Springfield Armory Scopes is that you can send it back for repair. The bad thing is you'll prob have to. As far as these and the Tasco SS I have tried both  and they went dead fast.

Which Leupold would work best on a Barrett?

Best Leupold on your Barrett, Mark 4. If you don't want to spend that much money try one of their new VariX-III long range models. Or you can go to Premier Reticles and get one of theirs or have one you already own boosted. www.premierreticles.com

Get a Leopold.
Any Vari-X 3 or Mark 4 would be suitable.
I'm especially fond of the M1/M3 Long Range Tactical line.

I second the recommendation to check out Prenier Reticles.

Thanks for the referral to Premier Reticles. That's pretty impressive. I will take a closer look tomorrow.

Premier modified my Vari X III 6.5-20x 50mm.  They put in Mildots and also turrets that allow me to have close to 100 minutes of windage and over 110 minutes of elevation.  Truly impressive work and great people to deal with.

Springfield scope will hold up just fine, I wouldn't hesitate at all.

You dog!  My PR 6.5-20 only has 91 MOA of elevation.  You got 19 more than me!  I want a refund!

I'm kidding of course.  I love my PR Gen2 mil dot.  I bought the LRT model and had them add the M1 turrets.  That saved me something like $60 over the LR M1.  It replaced an SA scope on my M70.  The SA was nice, and it worked, but the Leupy is a far better scope.  Of course, it cost me twice as much, so it damn well better be a nicer scope!
