I was on a local gun board and found this so thought I would share it.
link I tried a few friends and pulled their histories, and then tried a common last name, Johnson and started hitting zips I know. I found one guy in the town I grew up who buys LOTS of ammo. IMHO this is a huge security and privacy issue, getting my order history, full address and name, just by searching a last name and zip is complete and total crap. I won't be shopping there anytime soon and have requested complete removal of my information. Here is the CS email if you would like to share some thoughts with them: [email protected] Ed |

sent my email last night and got this response today. I am not impressed. Apparently he completely missed my point and concern, I gave the example of person in Tucson last name Johnson who has placed 4 orders in the last 120 days.
Ed ––––––––––––––––- Dear Edward, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately at this time you can view other customer's order information if you have the same zip code and last name. I addressed this issue at one of our monthly meetings a couple of months ago. Unfortunately the issue has not been rectified as of yet. We are sorry that you wish to be removed from our catalog mailing list, but we are following through with your request. To make sure that your name and address are not passed on to other companies that may rent from a mailing list, we have flagged your account for No Rent status as well. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thanks for shopping the Guide! Keith Jones Customer Service |
| I searched some common last names in my zip. Found a guy who must be a fudd. Bought a turkey something, two boxes of 30-06 and 4 boxes of 9mm. Now I know his name and where he lives, so if I ever need a hunting rifle and a 9mm handgun, I'll know who to rob. I know his name so I can call ahead and make sure nobody is home. Thanks Sportsman's guide, for making this so easy |
