I recently purchased a really nice Colt carbine in virtually brand new (apx 98-99%) condition and was banging my head against the wall for info. on it. I called Colt and they told me that in order to get the whole scoop I would need to contact their Historical section via mail (which I do plan on doing at some point), but was hoping until I get around to doing that, that some of the more knowledgeable Colt fans out there could educate me a little. First, I'll describe the gun: Unblocked lower rec. is marked "AR15 A2 Sporter II", with a serial # of SP351XXX; it has a Two position collapsible but stock, and the upper has a 16" thin barrel with bayo lug and A2 F.S. marked "C MP 1/7 5.56 Nato". I absolutely love the gun, but was wondering if this was more a collector piece than a shooter. Any info. as to its history, desirability, etc. compared to, say, a Gov't carbine and the like will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. You guys rock.
BTW, if this is the same gun that matches the description in the 2000 Blue Book, then it's one of the more valuable ones out there. (???)
