I'm getting ready to pick up a Specwar 7.62 to use on my blackout and 5.56 pistols.   I'm curious as to what muzzle device people have chosen to use on shorty blackouts and 5.56s.

Not trying to be an ass, but did you try a forum search, or a Google search? This very topic has been discussed many times before.

Well, while what the above poster says is very true, I've never responded to this question....

My 300 (8.2") has a trifecta FH on it. My 5.56 10.5" has......a trifecta FH on it. While most folks will tell you to put a brake on the short barreled 5.56, I decided to go with a FH, for now at least. I know there is this "sacrificial blast baffle" internet regurgitation. It may be true, but brakes are obnoxious.

I got one of each to try and then I'll decide. I'll probably use the brake on the precision rifle and maybe the short barrel and the FS on the carbine. The short barrel is the one up in the air.

I am running the brake on my 10.3" 5.56.  It is obnoxiously loud, even for the shooter, when fired unsuppressed.  I still went with the brake since I plan on shooting this weapon suppressed 99.9% of the time.

I will be mounting the trifecta FH on a 14.5 which will by shot unsuppressed a majority of the time.

I have read a thread (Surefire?) where the use of a brake was reported to extend the life of a can by several thousand rounds.  And there is another thread where a SOCOM soldier had to replace an issued can after 7-8K rounds though a CQBR with a FH.

To me this is a lifetime purchase.  If I can extend the life of the can by a couple of thousand rounds then it is a no brainer, especially when they cost the same.

It doesn't matter unless you'll be shooting them sometimes witht the suppressor off.

Pick whichever one you think looks cooler and rock on

Brake for 5.56 and Either for the 300.
