What do you guys think?

What host are you planning to use it on?

My experience with Walther P22s is they do not like heavy suppressors.  The Element is 4.3 ozs.  That is about half the weight of the Spectre.  With that said- there have been plenty of folks that the Spectre has worked fine for.  P22s are weird like that.  The Element is not out yet- down side.  Spectre is rated .17, 22 mag, 22LR and 5.7.  Element is rated .17, .22 mag, 22LR.  Both are full auto rated as well.  Element is a few inches shorter with about the same reduction in dB.  Spectre is about $100 bucks cheaper.

i think it boils to down which company do you want to support more..aac imho are a bunch of XXXXXX. SWR has always been good to go. Barring the companies reputations, both are good to go products.

I would wait for the Silencerresearch 2009 shootout to be released so you can see if the Element actually IS close to the Spectre in sound reduction.  The only numbers currently available are the ones from AAC's literature.  If the two end up being similar, then the AAC is better for weight and size as long as you can stand its hideous looks.  The spectre wins if you need 5.7x28 capability.

No. It just makes me think that the Spectre will probably last twice as long as the Element.

I am transferring a Spectre. With the $100 or more difference vs. the Element, I can buy a lot of .22 ammo. Or, use that $100 towards the ATF tax stamp. Seems like AAC canned the Prodigy in favor of their Element.

It seems that the weights in general are so small that a doubling does not represent that much more of a burden, at least not a doubling of the burden.

AAC took the Prodigy off the website until they get caught up replacing all the old cores out there with new ones.

All of AAC's top of the line cans are very light.

I predict they will be very close. 1-2db. This is going off the .223 tests AAC did compared with John's numbers in the big test.

How much does it cost to view the results? It seems you have to register to see what a "premium" membership costs.

I have a spectre but if I could do it over I would go with the Element. Lighter, shorter, scarmor finish, just as quiet, and I can actually shoot it on my AA glock conversion.

Been very happy with my Spectre, which I've had for a few months now.  Hosted on a Browning Buckmark, it is quiet enough to shoot in the backyard of my urban home without the neighbors wondering what's up.  The sound of the bullet hitting the trap is louder than the muzzle report.

I have a spectre and like it.  I also started papers on an element this week.
I will run the spectre on my .22 full auto and the element on my son's rifle and pistol because of the weight.
