For anybody that's on the fence about purchasing a NV device, I can't say enough good things about Robert at JRH Enterprises.
I've made multiple purchases from him and don't regret any of them.
I recently was going to put in an order for the XLS binos and after some emailing back and forth with Robert (and a few phone calls with questions)
he offered to upgrade to the Photonis 4G (intense tubes) for a bit of extra cost, which are fantastic by the way!
Last night was pitch black down in my woods to the point where I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
These tubes performed wonderfully, without a ton of scintillation.
I was still able to navigate my woods with ease.
I previously bought a Photonis ECHO pvs-14 and the specs on these binos is slightly less except the halo, but the binos are noticeably brighter.
To me these seem like the poor man's unfilmed L3 tubes, but will have to consult with a fellow arfcommer to validate (he has a pair of the L3's).

Robert is my go-to guy as well - great service and great prices. He always promptly responds to questions without a hint of ego, no matter how noob they are, LOL!

No doubt Robert is definitely the man when it comes to hooking you up with the best deals on kit. I'm very intrigued with the 4G tubes and how they perform against the L3 Filmless tubes, so defiantly post pics and your findings when you can.

@Lowdown3 How do the 4G tubes compare to the HP+ tubes in performance?

For some reason these pics aren't doing the binos justice.
I don't have the phone attachment to take pics though, just holding the tubes in front of the camera lens.
The brightness difference in person is way different than the pics represent.
Other than the gain difference, on paper the PVS seems like it would be better but in person the binos are way better.
The pics were taken on the same night within a few minutes of each other.
First specs are my PVS-14 ECHO.
FOM: 2260
SNR: 33.23
Gain: 9182
Resolution: 68
EBI: 0.15
Halo: 0.84

Photonis 4G Intens Specs L/R
FOM: 2054/2048
SNR: 31.60/31.51
Gain: 11147/11205
Resolution: 65/65
EBI: 0.19/0.11
Halo: 0.65/0.75

I had thought t he Intens would have higher specs, using them, do they do something the Echo's don't? Those Intens tubes are L3 filmless money.

@JohnDough funny screen name BTW!
I really don't understand how people think the Intens tubes cost the same as L3's.
I had emailed the nightwalker guy and he said the Intens are basically the same price, but they aren't.
Maybe years ago they were but not currently.
But to answer your question, these tubes in person are way brighter than my echo tube.
It was dark enough that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face and I strapped on the binos and was able to see and navigate just fine.
With the echo on a night like that, it's not happening.

Actually they are almost $4,000 less than L3 filmless in that same platform.

Arent the Intens the 4G? Did they drop the price when 4G+ came out? I recall them being $3500+ per tube, IF you could get them.

I'm curious when your Echo tube and your 4G tubes were made.  Is the Echo tube higher spec as it's a more modern tube and they got better at making tubes?

I know this thread is now considered "old", but I had a chance to try my buddies L3 filmless binos two nights ago and it made me realize that my photonis 4g binos were damn good for the money!
There wasn't a lot of ambient light.
There was more noise on his and other than that, the only difference I saw was the color hue.
Mine had a slight blue hue and his was more gray.

Well this is like many other things; these other countries are catching up with our technology.  Now even ten years ago I would agree with the sentiment of buying American, just cuz.  But today, dunno it's a toss-up.

You know the guy that likes to show us nipple photos, aka Jo-Jo the Eye-Two Pimp or something like that, I think he's right about one thing; this stuff is expendable, just like everything else.  You get the best deal for I2 and drive on.  Props to Robert for supplying this brand.  Choices are good.  Monopolies suck.
