Welcome to the highly addicting Dark Side
There are lots of resources available for black powder shooters. One of the best sites I have come across for supplies is Buffalo Arms, they have a good selection.
www.buffaloarms.comThey have a large selection of Books listed alphabetically.
The Lyman Black powder Handbook is good reference material for general information.
You will need correct sized and lubed Minnie Balls, powder and musket percussion caps.
Black powder cleans up pretty easily. I just recently came upon a product that I have been using exclusively for clean up called Carbon Buster. It is non-corrosive and does a nice job. I follow up with WD -40 to displace the moisture only and then store my rifles with a light coat of Ballistol.
Before Carbon Buster I used Equal parts of Murphys Oil Soap, Hydrogen Peroxide and Alcohol. This combination works well too.
There are some very knowledgeable people who stop by here and will be able add more to the discussion.
Thanks,
Sharpknife
