Someone, probably in Germany, was making or is making a semi-automatic STG44.  Anyone know who?  Also, if they are still being made, can you buy one here in the US?  I think that they run about $3000.

There is a thread in the GSG section about ATI importing the 22lr version made by GSG. Its supposed it reatil for around $600, I'm not sure if that what your looking for though.

From what I have read, the real centerfire reproductions were only a limited run (something like only 200) and they were like $5K. I'm not sure who the manufacture was though.

You are talking about the PTR 44 which were imported a couple of years ago in a limited run for $3000 but quickly sold for alot more.

Yes, SSD manufactured a Stg. 44 that was released in Europe and in the US.  250 were brought into the US with 50 canabalized for parts for the other 200.  They sold in excess of $5,000.00.  Here is my with a semi-auto FG 42.

Here is a good thread about them:   http://gk43forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9617

3 threads on the .22 lookalike, or 3 threads on a semi-automatic version in 8mm Kurz?

ok dude use the Archives for the 7.92x33 Kurz variant, and the various threads
that came alive when Sport-Systeme Dittrich began producing them, then later
when PTR-91 Inc imported them.

Yes, you and I can search the archives, but non-Team members can't. Your post seemed to me to be reprimanding the OP for not searching first. That seemed wrong to me, so I subtly called you on it. If I was mistaken regarding your intent, then I apologize to you.

I'd love to see a non-limited production, quality semi-automatic version of the STG-44 offered to U.S. civilians. A $3k price (or higher) is currently out of reach for me, but I'd save up my money to be able to get one if it was offered.

37F, nice looking rifles. I'm a little jealous. Do they shoot well? (I don't know if I'm up to reading the 91 pg. gk43forum.com thread.)
