So, I was down at my local class 3 filling out a form 4 for my first suppressor last night (yeah I know what the fuck took so long), and he mentioned some new news from the ATF.
It seems they've hired new examiners and hope to have them trained up toward the end of September. Bringing the number of examiners from 10 to 28. Anyone else heard anything about this? |

Sounds like a perfect time to send in a form for my sbr.
Can you register a lower as being an sbr before actually having the upper though. I know what size I want just haven't been able to find it in stock when I have the money. I already have a spare lower that was going to be made into a pistol until I wanted to mess with the nfa stuff. |

| That is more of a constantly running rumor that they are hiring more help blah, blah, blah. It hasnt happened in the past two years no reason to beleive this may be true. I am not saying I dont want it to happen but as stated before I will beleive it when I see it. If it does happen I will be sending out two form1's asap. |

Why wait to send off more Form 1's? Send them off now and join the line. Once the word is confirmed that they have been hired there will be thousdands of people "waiting" like you jumping in line and will end up in front of you. With out the New Examiners the wait isnt getting any shorter...
Look at what the eForms did. I wasnt planning on doing another Form 1 but I sent one in on Monday. There are several others who have done the same. MAHA |

There are several others who have done the same. MAHA I am waiting do to a lack of motivation in the projected wait. I know that makes no sense to do that but there it is. I know I need to send off the forms but the rush or importance is not there for me right now for some reason. It may be the lack of ammo this year has dampened my shooting spirits, been doing alot more to my bike and car this year because of it. |

It is true. I'm on the board of the American Silencer Association and we met with the BATFE at SHOT and discussed this very issue.
Katie would know as Bryon Gaston(Major Malfunction) is also a board member. It's good news as they have a running backlog many thousands of forms per month and actively fixing the problem. I'm not 100% sure on the date but if December rolls around and there are no new people then you can tar and feather me.
