Heard that the trijicon skeets aren’t able to hold better than about 12moa as a clip-on. Truth to this?

I would really like to see what the moa shift is also.
If the shift is significant I don't see the value in this unit for the price.
Hopefully for those forking out the money it is little if any shift.

Hoping to hear/see results also. @thehorta can you do a simple 100 yard test?

I’m sitting on the men’s toilet in the Lindt Factory Store in Carlisle, PA while my wife shops for her addiction.

I zeroed my Elcan SpecterDR on my LMT MRP rifle. I then put the SkeetIR in front of said Elcan. I was hitting the same 6-inch steel at 100-yards in roughly the same place before and after.

In other words, little to no POI shift with the Skeet attached as a clip-on.

A little to much information there

Glad to hear POI shift isn't an issue.

Can you confirm with both of them?

Not going to throw any names out there that gave me the information about the shift. Just trying to confirm if accurate.

I was told that Trijicons average MOA shift for these new skeets are like 12moa, and they aren't holding as close as the bae units were, (about 2moa average)

again, just word on the street from some higher ups, needing in field answers to back this up.

Doesn't the Skeet-IR have a non firing option to zero with your day optic?

If that's possible then I wouldn't be worried about an MOA shift, I'd just rezero before I went out

If it's really 12 moa or some number when moving between rifles it defeats the purpose for me which is to be able to move it to a few rifles when I need it, and not have it dedicated to one gun

90-120 minute battery life sucks. Burning through a new Energizer Ultimate Lithium CR123A every night.

Also, at least with mine, there’s significant battery drain while off. Just a few days stowed with the battery (intentionally) and it was completely sucked dry.

It’s a bit of a nuisance. $50/month in batteries is the price you pay for near-perfection, I guess.

Are you trying to figure out if the skeet x does the same thing a standard utm does when connected to a USB power source with the weird wavy screen thing? Because I do not believe the X models do that.

No sir,

I was just making a friendly request for some through the tube pictures.

I don't know anything about what you're talking about and when I heard another person just say that you could run the unit off of a USB I thought that would solve the problem of not being able to connect the phone adapter to the Eye piece since you should be able to remove the battery cover now and still power the unit for better quality pics.

Gotcha, thanks for the confirmation on that. I was told that with Trij acquiring the oasys line, they don't have the tooling/ability to build them and maintain consistently under 12 moa. Only Bae was able to do that and keep them under 2moa. Sounds like it may be malarkey then.

If you run a 3v battery it doesn't have the noise and it won't fry your unit.

@UNV

How does that work exactly? The manual doesn't seem to say much more than to turn the knobs

For that matter, it doesn't really say how to boresight it either, other than you have to move the crosshair. I'm assuming the reticule is moved to the same point as your day scope

Pic wasn’t about the coti adapter, it was just another place I’ve heard that the trijicon skeets hold around 12moa.

The unit will have a factory calibration and you will want to write that X/Y down. Next, shift the scene in the direction of divergence until POI equals POA.
Another option, and my preferred method is to use the reticle on the thermal vs the day optic. You have to sight in this way, but it's less complicated and works just as well.

I’ve got one of these and plan on doing some testing with a 22lr.

The SkeetIRx will not work with the BCO thermal cam as it comes. He cam fits the eyepiece fine, but the battery lid gets in the way. I think one of the cams could be fitted with a dremel to work I just have not had time to attempt it.

That said these things are pretty damn awesome.
