I have a Sandman S that i am waiting on the paperwork to clear.  I have read that there will be a direct thread option for it.  Any word on this yet?  this will be my first can, and would like the option for direct thread.  also any word when the flash hider mount will be available?

I've heard this as well. Why do you want to mount it via direct thread rather than the QD?

Best bet is to email them, they're quick at responding.

This is one post where Todd Magee of Dead Air (mageever) posted about an upcoming direct thread adapter for the Sandman. There were other posts but I can't find them right now. Hopefully they are still planning on making them.

Quote from that post:

"For the Sandman -S, there are brakes out now and flash hiders, direct thread, linear compensators, and other adapters coming soon."
