Hi guys,
Short of funds during in the Holidays, I'm thinking of selling my HK SP89. It has been s safe queen ever since I bought over 20 years ago. I have not even fired it. I got it from a dealer who used it as a display gun, no box but I have the manual. I would rate it conservatively at about 95% only because I put a factory case deflector and put a smudge on it when I took it off. I also have some mags and a few accessories. The question is what is a fair price? Thanks in advance. |

Quoted: It sounds very likely that HK will be bringing out a new SP89 next year. If that happens, the value of your gun could crater. If you are thinking about selling, I would do it soon. $5500-6000 imo. It would definitely be worth around $6000 if you had the box and it was new. Take a little off of that for it being slightly used and I'm not sure if you have the original box. But over $5000 easy, approaching $6000 Hmmm. How about with six 30 round German mags, three 15 round German mags, factory box and manual, HK shoulder rig, and maybe <400 rounds thru her? |

At my work, we sold a used one in about 95-98% condition (only marks being from a scope mount) for $4,250. We currently have one with the factory box (no literature) at $4,999.99, and we have been sitting on it for a few months already. If I could get my damn refinance started (kitchen isnt finished yet) I'd probably be trying to pick that thing up. There was a pair of them at cabelas a while back for 4250 with lasers on them, no boxes though. |

I feel your pain!! I would say anywhere $4500 to $5000 in a soft mark market... I'm thinking of selling my SP-89 myself, along with my pre-ban Uzi pistol and Sterling MK-VII pistol as well. Basically to fund other projects, after SBRing my HK-94, Uzi Model B carbine and my Sterling MK-VI carbine later this spring.
The SP-89 is a cool @ss looking firearm, but doesn't offer me any real advantages over my Glock-17, Beretta 92FS and Sig-226 pistols. I brought them about 10 years ago and they're just sitting in the safe. As for me, I'll probably sit on them for a few more months and wait to see who's going to be the next President... Not try to take advantage of a situation, but only to guarantee a fair market price. Back in late 2013, I did put the SP-89 up for sale for $4000, but only received offers, a total of five, that were around $3200 each... Its used, in about 95%-97% condition... No dings or scuff marks and with the factory box and manual... And more important, I wasn't desperate for cash, so she went back into the safe. At this point, I couldn't go less than $5000. In my situation, I would be OK with trading it for an used pre-ban HK-91 (IB, IC, etc...) in very good to great shape and WITH $2500/$3000 in cash, at this point. If possible, I would sit on your SP-89 for a few more months before selling it... I'm pretty sure we'll know who will be elected by this coming August... If it's H. Clinton, be prepared for another guns, magazines & ammo panic!! Either way, good luck!! |
