| Anyone know how the front sight is held on an SLP 18" shotgun? Or, better yet, how do I get it off? |

Well, I disagree with the fantastic part, in fact i've nearly taken a hack saw to them. From the factory the scope rail came loose the first time out, thought i'd fixed that and the rear sight fell off in the dirt, and the front sight makes me feel like i'm sighting down a golf club. I yell pull, throw that shotgun up and all I see is that big stupid chunk of steel on the receiver. The cheek weld on the stock is reciever height and the sights stick up another inch or so. Why remove them?....They're large, awkward, screw-on, fall off tactical junk that has no place on any gun of mine, and I think they look stupid. (my opinion....no offense if you like em.) The SLP is definately the most reliable semi-auto shotgun i've tested, only one failure to feed out of 400 rounds so far, uncleaned and I was trying to get it to fail. I've decided to keep it, and dump the Benelli and Remignton, but those sights gotta go they are by far the weakest link in this system. I was hoping i could put an SX2 barrel on it but i hear that ain't possible though i still wanna call FN myself about it. If not I'll just have a smithy put a bead on it. If i was range shooting or just intended it for a toy they might be ok, but for a working gun i want an unobstructed view and a bead. |
| Fair enough. To each their own. I don't shoot trap or skeet, so you may be right about the application. Mine will soon wear a Burris Fast Fire for quick, close-in target acquisition, and I'll fall back to the ghost rings for 50 yard slug work. I don't have the Burris yet, so I can't tell you if there is a co-witness or not. I was surprised to see your comments, as most owners have reported favorably about the sight system on this shotgun. |
