My 11.5" BCM upper runs great but you can tell it's a little over gassed with the suppressor on because it goes from throwing brass at 4-5 o'clock unsuppressed to throwing it at 2 o'clock with the supressor. I already run a heavy spring, the Spikes ST-T2 and the BCM FA BCG. Short of going to an adjustable gas block, I'm not sure there's anything else I can do to slow it down while suppressed. If the gun is running ok, is there any harm at all in running a little overgassed? |

I'd go for the adjustable gas block, or a Noveske Switchblock. ($$) Or you could get one of many piston systems with a suppressed setting. ($$$) Or you could get one of the "cheap" adjustable gas tubes ($) Worst that will happen is you might wear out the upper receiver around the cam pin a bit more quickly, and you will probably be replacing gas rings more often. The bolt itself may not last as long as well, i'd invest in a good bolt if you haven't already. |

I have used the adjustable gas tubes.
They do work well with two particular things to know first. There is no positive adjustment other than fully seated. Fully seated is not "off". They are a blow out source. Wall thickness and full auto fire, not a Work gun combo. On an 18" Rock barrel with the tube and an M4 2000, Closing the set screw completely seated resulted in excellent gas management with minor MALF. with lowest power 223 Rem. loads. This proves to be a perfect combo for me. My next will be a 'Switchblock". I am due a 16" platform on my want list. |
