I am thinking of a Deerfield carbine for one of my sons. Does anyone have any experience? I heard that you can not remove the mag from the gun untill the mag is fired dry or the rounds are run thru the chamber. Is that true? Any other info would be helpfull. I have a chance to get a used one in perfect condition for $395.00. Is that a good price? Thanks, MIKE.

I've got one, and I think that it's a great deer gun for the forest.  No complaints.  I love it, and highly recommend it.  I know that it is a whitetail killer.
Having said this, though, it is an older model with a tubular magazine.  I understand that the updated model has a different configuration.
Best of luck with your decision.
