Hey guys, Has anyone seen a Ruger 10/22 SBR in the wild? Seems like a decent price for what you get, but I haven't seen them in stock anywhere. I thought about just building my own, but you'll quickly get over $1,200 with just a chassis, barrel, and upgraded bolt. |

I got one from Battlehawkarmory.com for $649 and put a CMMG Zeroed 22 on it. Here's a link to the post My New Favorite Gun! It really is my new favorite gun as of late. I could definitely see it as a survival weapon. |

Or just buy a charger barrel and put it on you 10/22. Im thinking about making a 12” sbr with the original wood stock…..or something cheap-ish like the Magpul x22. Maybe something like the acculite

I'm gathering parts to make a .22 SBR on an AR lower, and I'd like to have one of those, so I can swap stocks/braces between them. I don't usually paint guns, but mine was a weird bronze (FDE?) color with a patchy brown camo pattern. I thought it was hideous. It was in great condition and a good price, though, so I had to. Glad to see the Chargers back, Ruger wasn't offering them for a while (they're still way overpriced for a basic 10/22). It'd be nice if they would offer the Charger barrels again- I've been looking for a threaded take off without success. Even the take off 16" threaded barrels are way overpriced- I accidentally bought a take down model without the latch mechanism and have no use for it.

That's where I got the one I have. I must have changed my mind since. I try to buy things that will work on more than one gun if I can. I guess I just didn't think of it or didn't see the option for it. I do like the brace I got though, so I got that going for me. |

I only bought the Charger I have, cuz I found it locally for $275. I wouldn't buy one at anywhere close to what they're retailing for. Sometimes, things get ruined by popularity. It's decent and cheap, so a lot of people buy it. Then it becomes 'the thing to have,' and gets more expensive -without actually being "worth" more. |

Before they discontinued the Chargers the first time, Academy Sports had them for really good prices but I was stupid and didn't buy one (they had the S&W 632s on sale too and I foolishly passed on that as well ). I've always preferred the Marlins for actual shooters, woods walking and squirrel hunting, but the Rugers are more modular and have more aftermarket support. When they were priced about the same the 10/22s were decent enough but since Ruger discontinued the Marlins I guess they can charge whatever they want for the 10/22s- and they apparently sued Thompson Center for making the gun Ruger should have been making. The TCR-22 is a much nicer gun with more factory features for a better price, shame you can't find them anymore. I've still got one basic, plastic stocked 10/22 and I want to put a short barrel on it to use as a boat/tractor gun, but it seems all of the short, threaded barrels I run across are "target" barrels, I just want a lightweight profile, cheap take off for plinking and short distances. |

Yeah. Several times I thought of tricking out a 10/22 with tons of aftermarket parts, but I never found a cheap beater. Like you, I see that much is the aftermarket is high end, and basic barrels are uncommon at any length. I have two now, and I'd like another. I wish it were a little more like the Glock and AR market, with options for every need and budget. I am tempted by BCA's new one. It looks like a custom 10/22 and uses the 10/22 magazines. I've heard some bad things about their quality, but I have one.22 upper they made that works perfectly and was dirt cheap. |

Bought one when they came out. Needs a riser for a red dot or high scope rings. It is compact, though. And is a simple form 4 to buy, as it is a factory sbr. Bought it on a Saturday, picked it up Monday afternoon. Attached File Bought it for the collapsible stock to fit in a backpack. Disliked the need for a riser for a dot and the high scope rings needed. Switched in a kidd 10inch barrel and put a magpul moe stock for weight savings. Attached File Wound up putting a holosun 507kx2 dot on it. I like this better for what I use it for. Saves weight and shoots very well. I was doing some measuring and think an eleven inch would look good in the factory stock, but Ballistic Advantage seems to be the only ones who make that length and I don't see any online. Since it's the cheap plastic factory stock I don't mind cutting it shorter. I'm honestly kind of all over the place with this project, I obviously don't really know what I want.  Something like that Magpul stocked gun with the suppressor next to the rifle case is what I've got in the back of my head.
