Anyone know anything about this? I'm a bit confused by them calling it a chassis.
The price I've seen for what I hope is a complete gun in 308 is around $2000. |

That looks like a heavy barrel in a very tactical stock.
MDT TAC21™ tactical chassis So it must have an AR style buffer tube for the stock... Magpul® fully adjustable stock and pistol grip It looks to me like the $2K price should include what you see in the picture. You have a couple hundred dollars worth the Magpul plastic, a $150 brake from AAC and a 700 in a nifty Al stock with top rail. Actually, it seems overprices since you can get a 700P for around $800-900. That makes the chassis about $700 or so... It doesn't mention which mags they use though. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire/model-700/model-700-tactical-chassis.aspx Here we go, It appears to be a custom McRee Precision stock and they use AICS mags and $600 - 700 seems to be about right. http://shop.mcreesprecision.net/G5-TMAG-FOR-REMINGTON-700_c449.htm |

Short or Long action uses AICS style mags. ADM sells a bunch of it. They had a couple put together down at their machine shop I got to finger bang while buying a mount. Fucking amazing chassis. I ordered a 16.5 inch rem700 for it. http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/browse/category/riflechassis/
Im trying to decide between a side folder or the PRS stock. |

Ding ding, you got and it perfectly accounts for the missing $700. Looks like you could build this yourself if you wanted to. Quoted:

Well, I already have a Seekins BM and several 5 and 10 round AICS mags and I've already had my barrel cut and threaded and have the AAC brake on my 700P.
So I could sell off the BM and the Larue 20 MOA rail and recoup some of the costs. The damn AICS mags are the big hidden cost and I've already spent that. And the 10s are hard to find most of the time. |

But the question remains. Does anyone have one or, failing that, has anyone seen one, maybe at the last Shot Show? I shot one at the range yesterday, it was pretty fucking cool. It had an MOE grip on it, I would probably prefer a tango down or something with more angle to it. I'm on the fence about it. It has close to the same level of flexibility as an AR which I like and tons of aftermarket. When you stack up all the goodies though you're getting close to or even with an AICS 2.0 stock. |

It's a Modular Designs Technologies Tac21 chassis - they're a good group of people up North.
I built one around a .308 700SD last year (with a few more and better quality parts... Timney trigger, incredible Grizzly brake, Atlas pod and glass) than they're offering - all for a lot less than Remington's MSRP. I can't believe they are going to sell too many of these at that price point. It's a push button to remove the bolt, easy as can be. No zero shift issues on mine. It's a heavy setup but I wouldn't change anything about it. And one final note: I hope Remington paid STABABY (a real gentlemen on here who helped me tremendously with mine) a lot of money because he created and had this setup long before these were in production. Look his rifle up, it's an FDE beauty. |
