| Hey guys I'm looking to get into reloading and have no one around me with experience to learn from. I did pick up the ABC of reloading but would also get some hands on under the supervision of an experienced reloader. Any idea how much classes like that would run? |
| I am not sure that classes are offered in many places. I would suggest joining a local gun club and asking if anyone reloads at the monthly meeting. You could ask them to show you the ropes and maybe they would agree to it. I have found that most people at my club are willing to help new people with all aspects of shooting. |

If you will read and re-read your ABC book, ask here when you have questions and read the links at the top of this forum you will find more instruction than you or anyone else could absorb in a year.
Far as walking you through your first cartridges one step at a time we do this with new loaders every week. Most days in here we have someone post exciting news of their first cartridge loaded and test fired. I frequent other reloading sights full of crusty people with even crustier ideology of how handloading should be done, subsequently handicapping new loaders with false statements and burning out new members quickly. That behavior is not tolerated here so what I'm saying is you are in the best reloading forum for beginners on the web. We have a forum full of relatively new loaders who can walk you through everything, having just been there themselves. Some guys find loading mentors who live closeby here in forum too. Also, I'm 49 and never been to a match of any kind what I didn't have one of "the old guys" giving me tips for a leg up on something they perceive I'm having issues with. Without a doubt you're surrounded by help and taken that first critical step of reaching out. Welcome aboard. dc. |

If you have a Bass Pro Shop around you, then check out their calendar. The one near me offers a basic reloading class on Sundays. I'm not sure if it is offered every week, but I have seen it offered a number of times. Sportsmans Warehouse does this also, from time to time. Have you asked in your HTF? |
| You can learn everything you want to know by using three sources. First is the books. They have all the knowledge you need. Second is ARFCOM. As said above, take the knowledge from the books, apply them and ask questions here. Third is YouTube. Yes, I said YouTube. Watch videos of people reloading. Don't just watch the machines work, pay attention to what they have around them on their benches, how they work their processes, what types of components, equipment, other reading materials may be visible in the video. Learn from all that. Figure out what process works best for you and start slowly. Its not hard, you just have to be willing to put in the time to learn. |
