| On that other thread that got locked where they were talking about the panoramic goggles, there was some discussion about the "removable tubes". Judging from the pictures, it looks like each half of the goggle isn't a seamless housing. It looks like it may be possible to somehow unlock each tube assembly from the housing and slide it out. |

I was the guy who pm'd dino about removing the individual monoculars. The liturature posted in that other thread as well as other sources I've read online indicated each mono housing could be removed in the field, by design, and used with some sort of clip on power source. I was mostly curious about how this works - do you get a pair of double mono's that are each semi panoramic, or four each single monoculars?
There's another blurb about removable tubes/no solder tube removal and I took that to mean that a badly blemishes tube such as one ruined by ir laser back-splash or other bright light damage in a room clearing environment could be removed and exchanged at the operator level, without needing special tools or skills. |

Just a basic modular design AFAIK, with standard, interchangeable parts, though it's possible to run it as a binocular as well as a quad. And you can buy it as just a binocular as well. The number I've heard for the GPNVGs was $40K but I don't know how accurate that is..
