Does the M17S have an operating system like the AR, where gases are dumped into the receiver?

The M-17S has a gas piston type operating system in function very similar to the to the AR-18. No gasses are vented into the receiver, it's a very clean gun. sp ,so much so I would say an order of magnitude cleaner then an AR-15.
