You give him a copy of your C&R license, and the money; he gives you the gun and his FFL #, and you log it into your bound book when you get home. No 4473 to fill out, no Brady check phone call, no waiting period (handguns).
Of course, this only applies to C&R-eligible guns. |

What Tony said. Make sure you bring a signed PHOTOCOPY (Never ever ever the original) to the show with you. Hell, bring about a dozen copies just in case.

You don't need the dealer's FFL number. I've bought dozens of guns from S.O.G. through the years and don't have their FFL number. You need their business name and address. Log info into your book as you normally would with any other purchase.
Don't be suprised if some dealers balk at selling to you with your C&R. A lot of people just don't have a clue!
