Normally items can be purchased without too much trouble at the local show, but I have since obtained my C&R and would like to know if anything changes.

Along with a receipt should I ask for the dealer's FFL number?

Or do I simply make the purchase as always, but this time just log it into the books?

What Tony said. Make sure you bring a signed PHOTOCOPY (Never ever ever the original) to the show with you. Hell, bring about a dozen copies just in case.

You don't need the dealer's FFL number. I've bought dozens of guns from S.O.G. through the years and don't have their FFL number. You need their business name and address. Log info into your book as you normally would with any other purchase.
Don't be suprised if some dealers balk at selling to you with your C&R. A lot of people just don't have a clue!
