I am having a problem with the right angle remote cable on my DBAL I2 coming off during firing. The cable plug just backs out of the plug hole.

Is this a common problem or is there something wrong with the cable?  I am looking for tips on how to correct this other than just duct taping it to the DBAL.

Supposedly, you can shave/sand the back of the plug to get it to sit deeper. It does help, but I've just never trusted it. So I use a strip or two of bicycle inner tubing to secure it and have never had it back out since.

I will give that a try. Since you mention it, I think I have heard this before.

Would it be possible for you to post a picture.

Thanks I appreciate your reply.

My DBAL A3 did that with the SF remote switch.

I bought some stick on velcro pads, trimmed them down to little squares and put them on the body of the DBAL above and below the port hole.

Pillaged a velcro strap from my laptop (the strap that keeps the cord folded up nicely) and there ya have it.

Holds it in place perfectly, and doesn't look that ugly.

Yeppers, a known issue with the SF plug not sitting deep enough.

Here is a snap shot of the mod I did.

Vic, did you just use a Dremel tool to shave that down?  Also, do the Steiner pressure switches TNVC sell have the same issues as the SF?

Thanks for the reply and photo post.

Just a sharp X-Acto knife did the job.  Steiner switches do not have this issue, only the SF ones.  We've told SF about this and red-lined a few drawings to show the problem area.

For note, our new T.A.P.S. system will not have any of these issues.

Thanks Vic, the T.A.P.S. system looks pretty cool. When will that be available?

Vic beat me to a pic...  And yes, it's the SF plug I always have trouble with it backing out.

That's good news about the TAPS system being more stable - gonna need 1/2 dozen of them when they're ready.
