The guys over in the precision section told me to talk to ask check over here on this question.
I have bought a FN SPR in .308 and want a can for it
my brother says that I should get either a AWC thundertrap or a YHM, but I am not limiting it to just these.
My purpose for this can is to shoot with out ear plugs

swr omega 30
gemtech hvt
aac cyclone or 762sd for qd
srt shadow, new titanium shadow
jet, shark, and quicksilver make titanium 308 cans
soundtech blackstar

just a couple of choices.  you have a price range?   any prefrence on weight, length? qd or thread on?  may want to read up to narrow down your choices as most maufacturers have a 308 can.

I have the YHM 7.62 QD can and I love it.I think it's the best deal going(price vs. performance), as long as you don't mind a little extra weight.

Extra weight compared to what?

I like the can the Army uses on the M24, but it would require removing and contouring the barrel.
OPS INC 3rd model

Here's it mounted on my M70

AAC 7.62SD 22 oz
Gemtech 24 oz
Actually after checking around the YHM 7.62 QD is in the median as far weight is concerned.

AAC 7.62SD 22 oz

Has that weight been confirmed?

I read this on silencertests.com:

I'm not sure exactly what's happening with he 07 model 762SD, I just got back from the shoot, got to handle one, (not at AAC stand/booth) but the guy basically told me the 22 ounce version did not hold up to AAC's expectations and it was decided to make it heavier. Not sure why the pdf file does'nt reflect this info. But again, this came from a third party at the shoot.

I am very interested in this OPS INC 3rd model but for now I am hoping for something around $1000 give or take and thread on is what I want right now.

Go with bigbore's advice, a FN SPR would go great with a can like the Ops 3rd. I am fairly certain you would absolutly love it, add in some sub-sonic & you have a very...vary...quiet gun.

Take a look at SRT Shadow titanium -- projected at 14 oz -- currently listed on EE.

I may be wrong since I am not a fan of chrome lined bores but wouldnt you have a problem threading crowning and cutting one since it will chip? Assuming the fnspr has one like some of their previous models have or had?
