I've never heard the pre/post ban topic applied to the 10/22 before. I wouldn't worry about it. Let me know where I can get a folding stock; I'd like to put one on mine.

There used to be a section on Ruger's website to find out date of manufacture by serial number. Unfortunately, it's not there anymore.
It's still listed somewhere else, www.sportables.com/ruger_rifles.htm? If a 10/22 was in "assault weapon" configuration prior to Sept 1994, you can have all the evil features you want. If it wasn't, you can only have one. That means no folding stock on a postban rifle since a folding stock has 2 evil features- a pistol grip and a folding or collapsible stock. |

You people are going to land someone in Club Fed-
The '94 AW ban applies to ALL semiauto weapons with a detachable magazine, as well as semi-auto shotguns. Thus, the 10/22 is subject to the same restrictions as an AR15, or any other autoloading rifle. It's all a felony to configure a postban with preban features. So stop with this "just ignore it" BS. heres your problem. thier are a million pre 94 10/22s but almost none of them are grandfathered with evil features. i have a real guninune pre ban grandfatherd ruger 10/22. good luck finding one. i think alot of the time they go for $450 in full dress. i guess thats with a 30 rd mag, so maybe 350

THE SERIAL NUMBER ALONE DOES NOT GRANDFATHER A RUGER 10/22. The rifle must have been configured as an AW before 9/13/94 to be legal. If it did not have the "evil" features before that date, they cannot be added now even if it was manufactured in 1970. You must find one that was assembled in an AW configuration before the ban, and must have some sort of proof of such just in case the question should ever arise.
