Can I use Hodgdon Lil'Gun to reload .45ACP firing a Rainer Lead Safe 200gr plated lead nose? My manual says that I can use a variety of Hodgdon but nothing about the Lil'Gun. One in particular is the Hodgdon Universal using 6.3gr with a muzzle velocity of 829fps. Thanks

Use Lilgun in higher pressure cartridges.

Lil'Gun is not a powder that needs to be used in a lower pressure round such as the 45 ACP...

Lil'gun is meant for full power loads in magnum rounds.

Which makes it unsuitable for 45 ACP.

Use a powder listed in the loading manuals, I'm partial to Clays, W-231, and TiteGroup.

If the manuals don't list a powder in a particular cartridge, there is generally a good reason. IME, it works much better in the .410 shotgun than it does in handgun cartridges.

I was not impressed with it in 357 loads. I will stay with H-110.

I tried some Lil'Gun in .30 Carbine on a recommendation.  I thought the loads were terrible.
