| I am in a position to help a friend expand his product line at gun shows. He wants to add a small supply of pistol powders to see how they will sell. What would you recommend? I have had good luck with Hogdon/Winchester powders and will recommend some of these. What else would be good choices? Would like a little diversity. Any help would be appreciated! |

My simple thoughts -
1. Sell W231 and other super-popular powders. 2. Sell equivalent powders from other suppliers BUT,... you have to have the load data to send home with the buyer. The job becomes one of educating the potential buyers about the equivalence. Take some targets fired with the loads. Take some chrono data. Show them how the powder looks side-by-side with W231. Simply put, make a Science Fair project out of your sales booth. |

Hodgdon has emerged as almost a one stop shop, distributing several of the major brands of powders, Hodgdon, Winchester, IMR, but there are a few others out there, he just needs to hit the most popular powders of the major brands, I guess he would need to contact the companies to find out what those are. |

+1 to what others have posted.
I would love to go to a funshow and find all or even some of my favorite powders. There's almost nobody selling powder at shows, if they are it's some stuff that's 30+ years old or super-high priced. And, it's always stuff I've never heard of. I hope your friend expands his business to my area in Ohio. |

Quoted:
At this point going forward any powder will sell and profit margin will incress exponentially as the general election nears. This is the correct answer. Almost any pistol powder will sell quickly, and as the election nears it will sell out rapidly. Supper popular powders are Universal, W231, HP38, AA#5, Power Pistol (these are all medium to fast powders for your service calibers - e.g. 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 acp.) Popular Magnum powders are Blue Dot, H110. |
