Picked up a new one this morning. It's a 1941 Colt Officer's Model .22. Finish is ok d of rough but bore and chambers are perfect. Locks up noce and tight and has a great trigger. Going to try it out in the morning.

It's a good mate to my 1947 K22

I find the time period of the end of the Wild West fascinating. The mixture of guns, culture, and technology. From wild cowboys to American doughboys and GIs. So of course I collect arms from the period.

I picked this up at a sale for $75 and so far have only added a sling and ammo.
From my research I have found this is to be a sporterized 1941 Lithgow S.M.L.E. No. 1 Mk III* It is all numbers matching, more accurate than me, and super handy.

1942 VKT M39. Not a single marking on receiver, except for a 2 or 7 on the underside...Buttplate doesnt match. Shown is a replacement "new" magazine, as the one that came with the rifle has a small crack developing on the left side - still have it though. My favorite C-R, Up to 300m (the longest range around here) I can keep up with newer Savages, Remingtons...Not much but still pretty cool!
