French .32 Autos, all acquired this week, because I'm impulsive. Far right is target/commercial MAB Type D (likely 1970s) Middle is Moroccan Police issue Type D (Late 40s?) Far left is "the unicorn." Unique bringback that does not match any known models. Assembly numbers match inside. This is how it left the factory.  |

I just had the chance to do my first commissioned photo shoot and thought I'd share the results here, since I'm super happy with how they turned out and to see my photography going somewhere, and the rifles themselves were incredibly cool and very interesting. I did the shoot for a local FFL who is actually selling these; if you're rich and happen to be interested, I'll post a link under the photos.
Anyway, these are 2 of the Remington "Red Star" 1903's that were returned to the US after being 'lend-leased' to the British during WWII; Only 200 are believed to have made the trip back, and it was an honor to have the chance to handle and photograph these! There is a great (and lengthy) article in an issue of Man at Arms magazine that goes into much more detail about the history of these rifles, but there's also a great summary that the FFL wrote up on his site at the link below. These were my favorites from the shoot:

Finally finished the French collection today. Barring a FAMAS and MSE, I'm done with post WW1 Frenchies. 1949 French contract 1949 Syrian contract 1944 49/56 49/56 scoped, force-matched bolt 1936 36/51 Stick a fork in me, I'm done for a while.  |

Stupid NICS system was down and I couldn't pick up my new goodies, but I wasn't leaving empty handed. Gave it a rub and some oil on the metal, no steel wool. All major components match, but lanyard ring is a crude replacement, chain is modern, and the ramrod does not appear original. Trigger appears to be a replacement.  |

Despite its age and the fact the French have adopted at least two more modern designs since then, I still saw a few of these carried by French troops in Afghanistan in 2008! I've got another one on the way without import marks. Selling my Les Baer back to its original owner at their request, so I don't feel so bad about snaking another 1950 at what can only be considered a substantial price. They're so pretty, though. Got a trigger only a mother can love.   And glad to see HDH is back to remind the rest of us how we've screwed up our lives. I'm doing alright for age thirty. If it turns out HDH is younger than me, I'm quitting and moving on to comic books or something. Got five or six more guns coming in soon. |

No import mark 1950 is in. Finally picked up my batch of guns from the store. Frenchies are multiplying quickly.  Also added a P14, .308 Ishy, and a rare bolted metal reinforced grenade launching Indian. Enfield collection quickly escalating into madness. Haven't even started on No 4s.  And an Italian snuck into the mix. I'm a sucker for a good deal.  Nine transfers today. LGS says I hold the record. |

MAS MSE, less than 10 known to be in the U.S... and an LG48 (MAS 36 with grenade launcher, but not a 36/51). No import mark on the LG48. May be a bringback. Edit: Scoped...  |

No idea if I posted this in here before, but here's my only milsurp: a 1903 Mark I built in 1919. It's my favorite rifle to shoot. Everything about it feels perfect.  |

Picked this little guy up today. Mle 1892 dated 1909. Poor fellow at the store had no idea what it was. Even mislabeled the caliber. To my surprise, I found regimental markings and what appears to be an engraved name on the butt.  LES ADJUDANTS DU 4e ZOUAVES A LEUR CAMRADES Grange (in script) |
