I going to guess that they are kit built guns,or the changed the rear receiver plates.
I have a PSL and it's a fun gun,and ammo is still cheap. I like the pistol grip on them, but would like it more if it was a WW AK54 build. I wouldn't expect that scope mount to hold up to well. |

Thanks PETman , looking at this one also

I have had two. Both Cugir built. First one suffered a fatal receiver failure after about 80 rounds. The second one seems to be shooting fine now, but it too months of tinkering with magazines and a new bolt to get it to shoot reliably. And that is with only 3 of the six mags I own. Based upon what I have experienced, the three mags that don't work in my rifle may never work in that particular rifle but may work fine in another one. There is a reason that they were originally shipped with 4 mags custom fitted to the rifle.
BUT........... When they do work they are a fun gun to shoot. |

Is that basically just a beefed up AK? The gas piston system looks very different from a Dragunov SVD. Pretty much. Thank you. Cool looking gun IMO. Yes - it is pure Kalashnikov and shares few if any parts with the SVD. Caliber is the same. Apparently, the Romanians did actually issue a version of the PSL as a squad DMR. With the right ammo, it was probably adequate in that role at the time. However, no one argues that is was ever as accurate as the SVD. It is a relative bargain here in the U.S. |

I have one, and it's a blast to shoot. I've read they are hit and miss, but I must have a good one. It doesn't give me any trouble, the finish is very nice, and we hit clay pigeons at 200 yards with no problem. The scope takes some getting used to due to the rubber eye piece. Until you're used to it, it is a little uncomfortable during recoil. The ammo is cheap. Mine's a keeper! I posted a couple of pictures below. The scope is not what comes with the rifle. I have an 8x POSP scope installed: John Thomas http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h53/jntmjt1/July%202011%20shooting/PSL54-1.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h53/jntmjt1/July%202011%20shooting/PSL54-2.jpg gonna go with one of these and try it out. Got notice the "ak54" may or may not be built again the end of next year Thanks John. Jeff |
