I'm thinking of buying a PPSH-41 when military gun supply offers their SBR version.

They said they plan to do this after full time production begins.

I saw a SGN ad for K-VAR and they had a PPSH-41 9mm barrel listed for sale.

How hard would it be to convert a PPSH-41 to 9mm?

Who could do it?

Maybe I read this wrong somewhere, but I believe the Germans coverted them in the field in WW2.

I don't think it would be too difficult.

Either way, I'd think that MGS could help you out. Have you asked them if they could convert it ?

I just sent an email...

Here is what I am talking about:

Any extra information would be nice...

They said they can do it as long as the magazines work!

According to this, the standard magazines work...

What do you think?

ETA: I called K-Var and they said the standard magazine will work...

All you need is to swap out the barrel. Reg mags will work fine, though you will have lowered capacity as 9mm is theicker than 7.62.

How much lower is the capacity with a drum?

Dont remember but its not enough to worry about.

The 9mm case has the same size head as the 7.62x25 case and therefore capacity shouldn't change. The 7.62x25 is a bottlenecked case spitting out an 85 grain pill at about 1650 FPS.

I read that the Germans really liked the PPSh, and shipped captured weapons back to Germany, where they were converted with a 9mm barrel and a magazine block that allowed it to use MP40 magazines.

There's a video floating around on the internet of a PPSh doing a 71 round (drum mag) dump.  Very interesting!

I just read this:

Due to the wide variation of drum magazines available and most having spring tension problems we do not guarantee this gun to work with drum magazines. They run fine with a good fitting and functioning drum magazine but 75% of the drums out there will give you problems!

Where can I find PPSH41 drums that fit well and are in good condition?

If I can't get the gun to work with drum magazines, I probably won't buy it...

Nevermind, I found a source that will exchange the drums if they do not function...

Um, care to share it with the rest of us?

In a while...

I won't forget...
