I have a home build ar15 with a 18" barrel, free float handguards & a YHM Phantom QD.  Optic is a Leupold CQT

I am seeing a POI shift of 6-8" at 100 yards on my rifle.

This seems a bit excessive for POI shift..... what type of shift are others seeing on their rifles?

I get that much on my 24" 308 bolt gun so I just don't shoot without the silencer.

depends on the can. the YHM is a really heavy can, so that much shift doesn't really surprise me much.

the question is, is it repeatable between mountings?

do you ever have a reason to take the can off?

As mentioned, heavier cans often have more shift.  But there are really a lot of variables.  Stick a weight on any barrel and all bets are off.  As long as the shift is consistent I don't really worry much about it.

What is the profile of your barrel?  You see the same shift with different ammo?

With my Ops Inc 16th Model I see less than an inch and always consistent location.

With my AAC M4-2000 and M4-1000 cans I get less than an inch on several different rifles ranging from 11.5" barrels out to 18" barrels.

i have one of the yhm qds as well. It changes poi about 6-8 on my 18" FF barrel too. Although my 10.5, it doesnt change as much probably due to the shorter stiffer barrel.

Well, atleast it's not just me then.....

I wonder if YHM would be willing to rebuild this older phantom into one of the newer/lighter units.

My 10.5 doesn't change POI when I have it on it... then again, I don't take my 10.5 to 100 very often... typically only 50-75 where it's less noticeable.

For the record, my 18.5 is a HBAR

My halo, on one gun is 2",  the other more like 6". It just depends on the gun.

its still a muzzle mounted brick even in its lighter brother skin, it will affect impact quite abit.

How's consistency with the AAC cans?
