What is your impression of the PKM Machine Gun? If you have shot one, did you like it? How would you rate it for belt fed machine guns? Is it better then an M-240? |

fast rof controllable and good out past 600yds ..fired a few belts "a dozen or so" though one that my dealer has. just watch out for the brass comming out of the left side when shooting it prone i have scars on my forearm and palm to prove that the brass is hot as hell!!.. i would say it is comparable to the m240 as far as controllability and i perfer the design but the m240 has way more features and mods for it than the pkm "including quick change bbls i belive that the pkm does not have if i amnot mistaken". as far as i am concerned i would love to have either of them |

The PKM is an excellent machinegun. It is lighter and more powerful than the 240, I also find it more controlable. The PKM does have a QC bbl, you have to raise the feed tray and cover, and pull the bolt to the rear in order to make the change. I have thousands of rounds thru the PKM and 240B. I would take the PKM over the 240 any day of the week. I have yet to get my MK-48 yet, but it looks like a very serious contender to being a replacement for the 240 on the top 5 best MG's. I really like this gun too, much more so than the 240. It is light and easy to use (identical to the 249). |

Have you seen this: www.vltor.com/projects.htm Vltor is selling semi-auto PKM's thru Military Gun Supply. I want one bad, but spending that much money would get me divorced, or shot. Possibly both. I may have to settle for one of the Vector Arms semi-auto RPD's. |

If I was in the market for another belt gun, the PKM would be right at the top of the list. I have had a chance to fire a postie and it is sweet. Unbelievably light and almost all sheet metal (which is not as nice as machined steel, but an amazing display of good designing). It fires cheap ammo and is built in the Russian tradition of simple to operate and very rugged. Besides, being a lefty, I LIKE a gun that ejects to the left!!! |

A favorite insurgent weapon, used in complex ambushes where we would hit an IED, then they'd follow up with a belt of PKM, then flee. It seems to never jam and is a damn powerful round to get hit with. If I could guess any drawback to it, it's that the links don't disintegrate, so the gunner runs around dragging a 200 rd. belt on the ground. Not any good when it's time to jump a fence or whatever. I'd take a 240 anyday. |
IF the gunner is using a 100rnd "assault" can w/ the 25rnd belts then they drop off after expending 25rnds, making fire and manuver much easier. |
thats the RPD not the PKM |
