I had an HK-91 back in the mid-eighties and sold it in later years. Then the terrible AWB hit and the rest is history. Well after reading and rereading all the posts on here I got in my truck and drove half an hour North of Dayton, Ohio to Rapid Fire! After introductions, a maintenance lesson on FALs, and a mere $549.00 I'm the proud owner of one of their home grown rifles, an 18" carbine grey with new black furniture. I went directly from the store to our range and of course in began to rain but hey what better conditions to test you new weapon. I swabbed the barrel loaded a mag, actually two and OH MY GOD! Suddenly I remembered why we lovingly called ARs "mouse guns". Forty rounds went fast maybe a little too fast and left pure carnage in their awesome path! Bowling pins that I used to shoot all day with my M4 suddenly were flying threw the air and fraging everything around them! Clay birds on the hundred yard hill turned inside out and left only dust and empty pop bottles were only good for one hit as they flew furiously off the range. It was about this time I realized it was very quite in fact too quite at the range and as I looked to my left the guys on that side were just sitting there with their riffles on their laps, mouths open starring at me. Finally, after what seemed like a long awkward silence one of them said something like" Gawd, what the hell is that thing, an HK or something?

COOL!

Thanks Rapid Fire !

Badfinger,
I've tried to tell everyone I possibly could about RapidFire. Owner is Todd Grove, and Mike a.k.a. Me.223 is a board member here. Great bunch of guys with superior work and products.
I ship from Texas to Todd, rather than deal with the locals here.
You did'nt go wrong dealing with those guys.

loose-round, your absolutely right, great people to deal with and good prices. I call em the "Toy Factory" you should see their store and shop. I know I'll be back for my next project and sooner for accessories.

Shoot well,

Jim

Sorry boys, you don;t know what fun is until you take one of Mike and Todd's 5.45 Krinks and let loose with a 30 round mag in 3 seconds at around 50 yards...  You can see why the Krinkov is one of the world's most devastating CQB weapons...  Talk about an evil fucking grin!

I just have a run of the mill Century L1A1, but it is one of the early imports with a Canadian made receiver with all military parts... gotta love the pre 922R compliance guns...  Best $300 I ever spent!

I too have tried incredibly hard to open peoples eyes to ORF.

I have one of their full sized FAL's and a moly coated AK47 from them, and they are the two nicest "parts" guns I have ever seen.

Their AK47 rivals some of the Krebs and Arsenal AK's that I have seen, and the people who did the transfer on the FAL for me thought it was a DSA.

Amazing stuff.  And Todd is one of the most knowledgable and nicest people I have dealt with.

Two ORF guns so far, and certainly, not my last. Absolutely awesome stuff they got there.

I recently purchased an AK-74 built by ORF, and it is sweet.  I have been eyeballing their FAL's for a while now, and have decided it will be my next purchase.

ditto to all above, they just built a bugarian ak-74 kit for me. awsome work, and was delivered on time. fit, finish, and accuracy were all fantastic.

Price on the FALs is going up $50.  They are turning to Penguin furniture over Century...  That's what Mike told me when I spoke with him about building me a carbine.

Hiram,  Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between the Penguin & Century furnture?  I do not own a FN FAL, but it is on the top of my list.

OK, so is a ORF krink!

Penguin = Lincoln Town Car

Century = Ford Escort

Great analogy!  I take it that it's worth the extra money.  I really hate Escort's; OK at least the kind you drive.

Cool thing about switching to Penguin!  That means the FAL's will now have the humpback look which seems more natural for a FAL.

BTW, does Ohio Rapid Fire use chromlined barrels?  I'm thinking of a 18" carbine...

Howdy Yojimbo, yes my FAL came with a chrome lined 18" barrel. You'll like it

Badfinger,

Cool!  How much were the mags at ORF?

[#14]
Yojimbo, they have two kinds some older and some new. The older which only look dirty or a little off color are $10 and the new or newer one are $12. They are 20 round mags and compared to AR mags dirt cheap!

Shoot well,

Jim
