Still trying to figure out the whole "taking a photograph through the monocular with an iPhone" thing:
It's interesting to compare the top picture with this one of the same rifle against the same background: 
The "true" black of the LMT stock is very obvious, as is the ejection port cover - but the Colt "charcoal gray" aluminum upper, while looking basically black in daylight looks more like the painted lower. ~Augee |

It's just a vinyl sticker - at a time of intense boredom I went ahead and drew up the artwork for the IUID labels using an online data-matrix generator and MS Paint - I was able to get a couple printed - when you scan them, it comes up with my name, phone number, e-mail address, and the serial number for the lower. Purely aesthetic, of course - not terribly durable, but it's a nice little visual addition. ~Augee |

I thought about asking the supply folks at the unit but something tells me that you can't just make up imaginary ones.

Not MIL/LEO and only get to a couple of classes a year. You're right though -- when I am "busy" with shooting, I don't think about the other crap. Hopefully, I'll never find myself in a real firefight. If I do, I probably did something wrong. |
