Basically it is a BE Meyers lightsaber
BE Meyers takes IR lasers to an entirely different level.

Izlid 200P.

It has no real use on that gun.  I just threw it on for the pic, really.

Just to warn you ahead of time, I'm not sure how iPhone photos through two scopes are going to show up.

So, just as a forewarning - like I said, photos were taken with an iPhone - plus, I was only really able to get out a little ways into the driveway - maybe 25m, if that, these aren't the best photographs.

First - as a basis for comparison, the PVS-14 by itself, gain all the way up:

This is 1x behind the ELCAN, still with the gain all the way up:

You can see, you lose a lot of light.

Here it is at 1x with the ELCAN's center dot at the lowest setting, with the illuminator on HIGH with the diffuser cover (too much bloom with the cover off inside the iPhone for a worthwhile photo):

4x, no reticule illumination:

4x, center dot - lowest setting:

4x, illuminated crosshairs, again, lowest setting:

The photos are pretty crappy, and they don't really reflect what it looks like through the optics terribly accurately - but you can at least compare it with the first photo, which, as I said, is the monocular by itself.

Frankly, it's a good argument for a dedicated NV scope or purpose made CNVD more than anything else - with an illuminator it can be made fairly useful, but as I mentioned - if you're intent is to use passive sighting, you'll need a decent amount of ambient light for it to really be worthwhile, the AN/PVS-7s are the oldest models I've used, so I can't really say how it compares to anything besides Gen. III.

Can't wait to get one now!

Just exploring some possibilities. Interchangeable combs on the stock worked well. I would get an Uni-IR or CMR-IR and keep the NODs helmet mounted for real use.

Hope to suppress it one day.

Well, short story.  I ordered an IR LED from Lighthound, and it was a strobe- more accident than decision.  Peering though the NOD looks like your WAY fucked up at a rave, unless you expect it.  If I was fighting people without NODs it is a little bit of a hindrance.  I think it would be awesome if I was fighting people with NODs CQB- because I have trained with it.

Its a loose connection at the spiral wiring at the base of the drop in. Had one of mine do it. I rotated the spring slightly, and it stopped contacting whatever was causing the strobe effect. No problems since. Hope that helps.

You are correct, I played with it and got it to work non-strobe again.  Still a good deal for $16 invested.

I got a package in yesterday so the Unimax will move to a pistol or back up rifle.  This is a Cherokee laser in a Blackhawk offset flashlight mount and Surefire 93V.  I'm not liking the Surefire on a gun, cause god it is bulky.  I might have to get a WML.  I'm gonna test the Cherokee tonight, got it used but if it works well I think I have found what I was looking for.

It's Horta. So it's a full power gray market unit.

The unique aspect of the ATPIAL-C is it’s pulled right off the same military production line as its full power cousin, but with a civilian legal Class1 Infrared Laser Pointer and Illuminator. Other than the power rating, there is no difference between the ATPIAL-C and the ATPIAL.
