Unfortunately you only have half of the story. What you may not know or failed to include in your article was that the NRA is responding to specific claims made by pro ban / pro gun control groups who have claimed evidence that terrorist weapons recovered abroad have been traced back to their purchase at gun shows held within the USA. The anti-gun groups are using 9/11 as a reason to justify their position, counting on riding a wave of public sympathy using disinformation. The NRA on the other hand, clearly understands who their outspoken opponents are and rightly names them. At least they have the courage to directly confront their accusers.
Why if you were a terrorist, would you travel to the U.S.A. for weapon procurement where available weaponry has limited rates of fire, costs up to ten times more than what you can purchase them for in third world markets, where I'll add there is no A.T.F, U.S. Customs, or F.B.I. to worry about.
If you think that the harassment, registration, and regulation of our freedoms as American Citizens is not worth protecting then maybe you would volunteer to surrender your rights first.
By the way, before you go out of your way to vilify the NRA, you might take into consideration that these same Citizens are the same ones who have served our country in uniform, fought wars to protect your freedom, and are the law enforcement and emergency personal that allow you to sleep safe at night.
A lot of whom got both their first experience with gun safety and community service as a part of what some journalists have described as that para military organization .. The Boy Scouts of America.
If you really think that registration, confiscation or taxation changes a criminals ability to obtain weapons, you are misinformed. Maybe you should ask British subjects, Australians or even Canadians if they feel safer knowing that in their countries the only ones who have the ability to obtain weapons without restriction are the criminals!
