you're probably about a week or so still out then... mine from 2/22 came back this morning. one at about 830 local, the other about 1045 local. About 100 control numbers between them. YMMV, but you should be about to the front of the line..... Its like waiting on DMV though.... your number is next, and it still takes what seems like FOREVER to get called.....

My last Form 1 finally cleared. Submitted it on Feb 23 and approved on April 29. SBRed a Draco onto a trust. No issues.

This was my fifth Form 1.

Had my form 1 finally get approved after 63 calendar days, yesterday.

Then today, after 6 calendar days, a form 4 for a Rhodie 6 got disapproved for having "multiple photos attached".

Used the same file that has my EFT and photo that I submitted on my recently approved form 1, and also my last 20 or so submissions.

Anyways, resubmitted a new form about 10 mins after getting the disapproval.

Yesterday I certified a form for a FireTeam 556, so we'll see how these go.

SBS'd my Remington Tac-14. Paper Form 1. Trust. One RP.

Submitted 03-02-26.
In process 03-06-26.
Pending 03-09-26.
Approved 05-14-26.
Received 05-23-26.

74 days to approval. 83 days to receipt.

I has listed the model as "Remington 870" which was on the receiver. The approval was conditional noting that the model was just "870." Hey, at least it wasn't disapproved!

The examiner was "Authorized NFA Division Official." They don't sign their names anymore?

The model never includes the manufacturer's name.  The manufacturer is already listed separately in box 4a.

Submitted a Form 4 to transfer an SBR from my single shot trust to my NFA trust on 4/6/2026.  Checked a few weeks ago (5/6/2026), nothing.  Just checked right now and it was showing finalized on 5/13/2026.  Never got an email.  Downloaded the PDF of the final form and yup, approved on 5/13/2026 with that new "Zero Dollars" stamp on it.

I submitted a form 1 (SBR, Individual) on Friday 5-29-26.  The last form 1 I had submitted was 01-09-26, 142 days prior.

Assuming the ID numbers are sequential, the math states that there is an average of 11,836 submissions a day.

Seems like a lot but I'm happy to see there's a lot of activity.

OTC silencer transfers are the easiest way to get into NFA.  Factory SBR options are slim so most do Form 1s for that, and to someone new to the game the extra steps of making an NFA item probably was a bit daunting vs. how easy and automated buying new silencers has been for the last decade or so.

And of those 6 million silencers, it wouldn't surprise me if nearly half of them were .22 cans.

[#29]
If there are ~6 times as many Form 4 silencer submissions as Form 1 SBRs, why does it take over 60 days average to get a Form 1 approved vs. 1-2 weeks for a Form 4?  Seems like it should be the other way around.

Belief is that since the Form 4 volume is higher, they have more examiners and contractors working that line than the ones doing Form 1s.

Also, eForm based transfers require very little input work since the item is already in the registry and you're pretty much just doing the background check stuff and then changing who owns it.  With new NFA items, a bit more work is required to scrutinize that the information entered by the applicant is correct.  Things like clarifying model designations and all that, just look at all the threads recently where people are getting denied (or sometimes even abnormally approved) because they entered the basic info incorrectly.  Plus the rise in registering very unique items like 3D printed silencers and such just adds to the complexity there.

I have to wonder what about the eForm 4 process is still manual.  It seems like pretty much everything in it could be automated, at least for transfers to real people (not legal entities).

I'd assume there is at least a human there to hit the final approve/disapprove even if all the rest is automated.  It's just not realistic to think a government agency could totally replace a human drone with a computer.

Are Form 1s done geographically? I ask because I just had an eform 4 come back in …3 business days - and I just submitted an eform 1 last friday lol

Hoping my eform comes back sooner than a couple of months, I’ve got a Gordon Carbine to paint!

No, any examiner woking on Form 1's could do one from anywhere.

There is a defferent process between Form 4 and Form 1s, with likely different groups of examiners working on one type predominantly.  The current trend of days to a week for a Form 4 and 60-80 days for a Form 1 apply across the board to all applications.

No different from Form 1 SBRs/SBSs/etc., unless you put a unique model name and got it send to "pending research" status, that usually adds bonus time.

So then, I'd just go ahead and say 90 days if you just submitted it.  Returns comming back now are about 75-80 days and it's been trending up slowly.

I saw on Reddit (I know, I know) where someone messaged the ATF Directors X account about a eForm1 and got an actual response and an approval hours later.
