Hunters are always calling and asking, what's best, Night Vision or Thermal? There's no clear-cut answer to that question without knowing everything about the hunters style of hunting, his terrain, his intentions for use, the quarry he plans to pursue, etc. etc. So we created a simple chart showing Pro's and Con's of each so people can make an educated decision and come to their own individual, intellectual conclusions.

Thermal is not very battery friendly, NV is.
NV has no visual lag or video lag between reality and whats displayed on screen, Thermal does (to varying degrees on various products). Thermal cannot make use of lasers for aiming/pointing. NV can. |

If your needs are dynamic in nature, moving and interacting with your environment NV is the only way to go.
All things considered, I give the edge to NV because its ability to allow the user to do so much. If it was me I would invest in NV first and square my setup away, then supplement with thermal, either an handheld or a scope depending on my mission. |

Due to the hunting regulations I have to abide by most of my hunting is from an elevated stand. If hunting with a rifle from the ground I must use subsonic ammo or rim fire ammo.
The best option is thermal for my application IMO. As stated by others NV is the only option for navigation at night. |

i2 - you can PID tree branches being dynamic running around in woods, totally oblivious to game you are hunting. Makes for cool Facebook helmet rig pics.
