First off, I'm new to the site, and love all the info that can be found here. I've been lurking for a long time just never joined until now. I mostly get into the .22LR so you will most likely find me here more often than not! I have a couple questions. I am thinking about purchasing a silencer for one of my 1022's but I am not sure if it is logical or not, and want to find out how it will effect the weapon and bullet.
Can anyone suggest a good one?
Is there any real benefit of using one?
How does a silencer effect the bullet, ie: velocity, accuracy, and etc.?

Thanx in advance

First off, welcome to the site, and enjoy your stay here!

I do not currently own a suppressor myself, but I can tell you that there are several benefits to them.
You can off that raccoon that keeps getting into the trash cans at night without disturbing the neighbors.
You don't have to use hearing protection when you use one.
People (chicks) dig 'em. A suppressed .22 pistol makes everybody that tries it out feel like James Bond.

There are more, but those are just an appetizer.

Welcome!

You will need to get your 10/22 threaded 1/2x28x.400" to accept a standard .22 suppressor. The one to look at is the new, all stainless steel SilencerCo Sparrow. There are others, some even cheaper, but the Sparrow is very highly rated. Check out the Suppressor section in the Armory forum (further down the page from this one) here on ArfCom for a ton of good info.

Mine is a Tactical Solution brand & I like it. IMO, it's critical to get a can that comes apart for cleaning as .22 ammo shoots pretty dirty. *I* would hate to have to send a can back to the factory every so many rds.

As mentioned, works wonderful on local critter control w/o freaking out the neighbors. Yes, the cool factor is in there too.

Mine does change point of impact from my scope setting when shooting w/o the can. No clue on velocity but I would hazard a guess it does drop it just a hair or so. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I still get nice, small groups shooting with the can in my CZ 452 American.

There's a web site somewhere that did all sorts of comparasions on cans in different calibers. I wish I had found it before I bought my two. Sorry, I don't have it book marked but you should be able to google it up.

My .o2
