I am trying to plan my next build.  It will start off as a pistol, then SBRd and later suppressed.  I really like the look of te 7.5" barrels but have heard that they burn up suppressors and many companies do not warranty the can if used on a barrel that short.  I have spoken with a few people that have SBRs that are 10.5" and they wish they went with the 7.5" barrel from the beginning.  Are there any cans that work well on a 7.5" and not void warranty?  I have thought about using a 9mm can just so I can put it on my pistol as well.  Any help fellow Arfcommers?

Why not go 9mm all the way?

If you have any intention of using this as a defensive rifle and you go with 5.56mm, go with at least 10.5" as the shorter tube doesn't have the muzzle velocity for reliable fragmentation.

It is my understanding that the really short barrels are much more likely to have cycling problems and I've also heard they may have to be tuned for either can on or can off and won't work in the configuration for which they are not tuned.

Just because you start with one barrel length doesn't mean you can't change it later. Just make sure to write up the Form 1 with any barrel length or caliber you might possibly want to use down the road.

FWIW, I have an 11.5" barreled AR pistol that I plan to SBR.
