Got a MOLLE II ruck in 3 Color Desert, and I'm having some trouble with the shoulder straps. Specifically the quick release clips.

The lower clip doesn't/won't seat fully in the receiving clip, and it feels like the only thing keeping the shoulder strap together is the retaining button. Does anyone know what the solution is if any? It feels like the bottom clip is a mm too long, and is keeping it from fully seating, which is causing the receiver to not be able to clamp down.

Picture of bottom clip (L) and top receiving clip (R):

Bottom clip won't seat fully, causing the top clip to not be able to clamp down fully:

Shoulder strap feels like its kept together with the bottom only:

Also, a side question, but how low can I seat the shoulder straps relative to the belt? I'm a short guy (5'6"), and feel that I need to reconfigure the pack for my height. I didn't have any manuals to guide me through the assembly, so if you guys know of one to assemble a MOLLE-II pack, I'd appreciate it if you can share!

Thanks in advance!

The QR clip on the shoulder strap WILL click into the receiving portion. It might take a little push, but you will hear a definite click, then just snap the small retaining strap onto the bottom portion. As for sizing, I usually put the waist band on first, (threaded through the bottom most slots on the frame) and then then place the shoulder straps so the wiast band is right above the hjps, and the shoulder strap center bad is at the center of the shoulder blades, then attach as needed. Here are some links to help you figure it out:

Thanks. I've tried to push the QR clips in using a lot of force, and it still won't snap...

Did I get a dud? Should I try filing down the clip to shorten it so maybe it'll seat?

Thanks!

It may take quite a bit of force to seat the clip properly.  Use a table for leverage and lean on the clip to push it in all the way.

Issue solved! I'm now just working on different ways to manage my straps.

On a related note:

Does anyone know where I can find 3 Color Desert Sustainment pouches for the Molle II Ruck?
I'm only seeing them on Ebay, at about $50/pair, which seems really steep...

May I ask where you got the pack from? I bought a fully loaded Woodland camo Riflemans pack with all the pouches and sleep carrier for around 80ish off ebay...
There are better deals, but since you already have the pack..finding the sustain pouches are worth getting...but not at 50 a pop
