I first heard of this thing playing the computer game Fallout, and the  above link is the only website I've found that refers to the actual firearm and not it's availability in said game.  It looks like it could be a pretty handy little package.

The web link says it will be available in October 2001, which has long since passed.  Has anyone ever heard of this item actually being produced?  Was it just another pipe dream / vaporware that never went anywhere, or only reached trial stage?  Or maybe they're just not importing them to the U.S.?
