is the Mini-30 plagued with the same problems as the Mini-14?

I didn't know either of them had any problems

things like mag issues, and ejecting a fired round and taking 2 live with it and double feeding, acuracy

the trigger assy puking out after 3 shots of Wolf

It's worse yet, due to the lack of suitable (quality) hi-cap mags.  I outshot a scoped Mini-30 using my iron-sighted SKS (with Williams peep rear sight) using the identical ammo.  The SKS cost about a forth of what the Mini cost before optics...

My mini30 would not reliably fire mil-surp ammo. Out of 20 rounds, 5 failed to fire on the first whack of the hammer. I sold it and feel lucky to have broken even.

Where these the first 20 rounds you fired out of the rifle?

I agree with Troy regarding the magazines.  However, I must be the only person in the world to never have a problem with USA Magazines mags in a mini-14 and mini-30.  I had 7 or 8 mini-14 mags that never had a problem and 3 mini-30 mags that also functioned flawlessly.  Go figure.  I seem to be the exception and not the rule though.

Both my mini-30 and mini-14 wore Choate stocks that were VERY tight fitting.  The tight stocks seem to improve accuracy greatly.

The older mini-30s had a tighter barrel diameter than the ones produced after 1989 (IIRC??).  Anyway, point is some mini-30s have a bore diameter that is slightly smaller than foreign manufactured 7.62x39 ammo (like Wolf).

I sold both my minis simply because I didn't use them anymore and I wanted to fund some other projects.  I think if you want a 7.62x39 rifle, you are MUCH better off with a SKS or an AK.

I HAD a Mini-30.  Very reliable IF you shoot Ammo made in America I.e, Fed AE.  I had many many FTF w/ Wolf and any other forgien Ammo for that matter - I guess the primers were to hard? While shooting AE, it always went bang and cycled w/o any issues......

Now lets talk accuracy - once the gun got hot I would get 4-5" groups at 100 yards, bench rest w/ a scope.  groups off hand w/o scope were about the same, 5"+.

I began to think it was me - so I took out my Bushy and got <2" almost all the time off the bench. I actually shot off hand w/ Iron sights w/ my bushy and got better results then I did w/ the Mini, bench rest, w/ a scope......

I got rid of the Mini-30 and picked anothert Bushy

I still have several 20 round Mini-30 Mags (after market) but they work great - provided you shoot proper ammo.

I have a friend with a Mini-30 that has served him well.  He has taken several deer with it.  He only hunts with it, so high-capacity magazines are not an issue with him (he has other rifles for those applications).

Like many here, I can't understand why anyone in a "free" state (i.e., given the choice) would choose a Mini-30 over some AK variant.  But I'm a firm believer in "to each his own," and I own some firearms that aren't exactly "highly regarded" here, so...

The rifle never fired mil-surp well. I never had a problem with the rifle feeding from the USA mags. It just would not go bang consitently with Chinese, Russian, East German, ammo. I did reload for it and it fired every reload just fine. Best scoped and bench rested precision was 1.5" with Nosler BT.
I probably fired close to 1000 rounds through it before I sold it.
