My dad bought a bunch back in the ban days (from cabelas) and they all suck.  They fit like shit they rattle he has FTF problems they don't lock the bolt back on the last round.  Where can he get good quality mags.  Who makes the best quality mags for this gun

Look for some PMI magazines in the EE, They are about the best you can get for a mini-14

The Ruger factory 20 rounders are about the best.  They are $30 each though.  The PMI are good also.

I've been running PMI 30rd mags in my AC556 with no problems.

If you are lucky enough to find Ruger mags, don't be surprised if the mag springs, due to age and use, will require replacement.  AR-type springs of the appropriate length should work out fine.

I keep hearing this, but what makes them the best?  I had three a long time ago, they worked 100%.  But so do all of the PMI mags I have, 30's and 40's, so I don't see what makes the Ruger mags any better.

No problems with the Thermolds for me.

Most likely USA mags.  PMI (Precision Mag Industries, not ProMag) are very reliable.  I bought a bunch from Gun Parts Corp. back when they were $15.  Now I can't find them anywhere unless it is a private sale or EE.

Same problem here, I got tons of mags that are just crap. I hear the Black Warriors are decent at CDNN.  The ramline clear ones have always worked well for me, but I wouldn't trust plastic with anything other than range work.

Beta Mag (or someone) needs to make a Mini-14/ACR556 tower to go on their 5.56 drum mags.  Would probably melt the gun.

someone posted the other day that magpul anti tilt followers made shitty mags work great.

my buddy's mini wouldn't feed anything but factory ruger.
