Any recommendations on items/full med kit for a bug out bag?
Of course I have some stuff I bring to the range with me, but am sure there are items I have not thought of. Thought I would ask those more experienced than I. Thanks. |

So am I correct you are talking about a long term sustainment medical kit of some type? How many people are you needing to care for?
There is a big diffrence between what you would need for just yourself vs. you and a friend/spouse or other adult vs. a family where you add kids into the mix. Are you in a rual area, remote area or urban area? Are you talking something E&E size (think hurricain Katrina) or something like a Red Dawn scenerio? A few random thought to start with no mater the situation. If you are talking about something to add to your likely very full bug out bag. Keep it simple with basics. Don't get caught up with a bunch of crap because some "expert" in a post or some forum discussed the value of a pulse oximeter or having a certain number of IV's all the time, but yet you have no training on these items. Keep with items you and all persons in your party know how to use. Triple antibiotic ointment, some various types and sizes of bandages and some basic OTC medications can go a long way in any situation (pain medication, anti diarrheal medication, hydration solutions for oral use such as Ceralyte). Of course you should always have a supply of any prescription meds. based on any medical conditions of persons likely to be in your party. However be mindful of the answers to all the above questions and look closely at what you really expect to need and remember everything you carry you pay a price with. It's called weight you must carry around for some unknown time and distance. Once again for a bug out situation keep it simple and basic. |

Something to tend to my family of 5 in the event of wounds, sprain, breaks etc. I am in a semi-rural area. Great suggestions on the other items. I'll add some of those to the list! Thanks very much. |
